22 Years Ago

On September 19, 1986 Gary and I were sealed "For Time and All Eternity." Seven years ago (October 16, 2001) Gary died of a massive heart attack. Today I am really missing him!

Salem is TWO!

Okay... This is how incredibly exciting my life is NOT! The biggest event in the past week is the birthday of my cat, Salem. I know... I'm being silly, but he is one of the joys in my life and I'm so glad he is a part of my "family."

A Poem

Last week my students worked on poetic verse. This got me to thinking about my favorite poem, and I thought I'd share it here. BTW: I found it on the back of a puzzle years ago, and the author is unknown.

CHOCOLATE

I love chocolate, I admit it
From the moment I first bit it
My heart was lost
And I'd have crossed
The wildest wilds at any cost
For chocolate

I love bonbons, truffles, mousse
Boxed, or bowled, or bagged, or loose
Big thick bars or tiny chips
Creamy frostings, tasty dips
It is for these I smack my lips
For chocolate

I love chocolate, nothing better
I love the word I love each letter
And come what may
All I can say
Is give me each and every day
MORE CHOCOLATE!

My America

Vacation 2008

This summer Jesse and I took a road trip so I could visit my 40th state... Oregon! We drove west to Los Angeles, then north to San Francisco, where we spent the night. While there we took a bay cruise under the Golden Gate Bridge. Our goal: See ALL of the bridge at one time.
The next morning we headed north once again, this time our quest was Giant Sequoias. We were looking for the ones you can drive through, and we found them!

Are these awesome, or what?!?

Eventually, we reached our destination, of the southern Oregon coast. Talk about a beautiful place, and a great break from the summer heat of Arizona.
