Yesterday I gave Jesse a ride to work, and on my way back, while driving on Indian School, at 45 mph, a car, which apparently was unable to see around the two big trucks in front of him, pulled out right in front of me. I'm sure it only took a few seconds; literally less than 15, but the whole thing seemed to happen in slow motion.
Fortunately, I was paying attention! This is BIG news, since I've been kind of distracted lately. Any way, I saw the big, U-haul type truck attempting to pull into a driveway. I saw the big, dump truck type truck behind the U-haul type truck. And, just as I was going by the U-haul type truck, I saw the car pulling out in front of me.
Did you know that cars going 45 mph don't immediately stop when you slam on the brakes? They don't! But, the tires do squeal, and the tires smoke, and the car swerves, and just at that moment you wait (again, only seconds, but what seems like much longer) for the crashing sound of metal against metal. But luckily, somehow, I avoided what could have been HORRIBLE! And then, as if nothing at all had happened, everyone continued on their way. No communication between drivers... Nothing... But, I'm telling you... I was sooooooooooo shook up! Every part of me was shaking. And, apparently I tensed up, becuz every part of me is still hurting. Seriously, I would have T-boned that car on the driver's side. I can't even imagine how awful I would feel if I had hurt or killed someone, even if it WASN'T my fault. Not to mention what my car would look like!
