A Good Day
Jesse and I had a busy day today. First, we went and picked up my mom, and then we headed out to Queen Creek to the Schnepf Farm Peach Festival. We got there around 9:00, and it was already crowded, but that didn't stop us. We rode a hay wagon out to the orchard that was ripe.
We stood in line to get our boxes, and then we headed out.
Surprisingly, we didn't have to go very far to find some nice, juicy peaches. We also grabbed a few that were still a little green, so we'll have them throughout the week.
Then, we walked over to the bakery, and stood in line for FOREVER, but in the end we came home with a couple of peach pies; one for my mom (she sent 1/2 back with us to give to Linda) and one for us!!! I haven't had a piece yet, but Jesse said, "Mmmmmmmm!!!"
After the Peach Festival we headed to Verizon to buy my mom a new phone... She got an NV2. I spent about an hour trying to help her figure it out... She's technically challenged! After Verizon my mom took us out to lunch to celebrate Jesse's birthday (which is really on Monday); we went to OLIVE GARDEN... Yummy!!! Then, we headed back to my mom's house to go swimming... That was NICE!
Finally, on the way back to Avondale, we stopped by to take a wedding gift to a very special friend's son. I have not seen Susan in forever, and it was SOOOOOOO great to see her again!
Yep, it was a good day!!!

Feline Haiku
By Redenta Soprano, a botanical illustrator who lives in Florida. She says they were written by cats, but I think she wrote them her very own self.
There's no dignity
In being sick - which is why
I don't tell you where.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seeking solitude
I am locked in the closet
For once I need you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Am I in your way?
You seem to have it backwards:
This pillow is taken.
Your mouth is moving;
Up and down, emitting noise
I've lost interest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The dog wags his tail,
Seeking approval. See mine?
Different message.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My brain: walnut-sized.
Yours: largest among primates.
Yet, who leaves for work?
My affection is conditional.
Don't stand up,
It's your lap I love.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cat's can't steal the breath
Of children. But if my tail's
Pulled again, I'll learn.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't mind being
Teased, any more than you mind
A skin graft or two.
So you call this thing
Your "cat carrier." I call
These my "blades of death."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Toy mice, dancing yarn
Meowing sounds. I'm convinced:
You're an idiot.
There's no dignity
In being sick - which is why
I don't tell you where.
